God was close to us, because God wanted to be close. Even after we got into trouble with sin and separated ourselves from His presence, he pursued us. He never let us out of His sight. God rescued humanity over and over again. God is still claiming his people today, and doing it by moving in with us, being close.

Assurance in the Christian life is two-fold. Our assurance of salvation comes from Christ’s saving work that purchased and granted to us and keeps the fulfillment of all his promises to us (2 Peter 1:4.) Our assurance of faith that Hebrews 10 speaks of is both a gift of God and something we must grow.
