Born in 1921 in Lindsborg, Kansas, John W. Peterson began his career as a music teacher and later founded the John W. Peterson Music Company in 1946. He composed over 1000 hymns and songs, many of which have become staples in Christian churches around the world.
Peterson's arrangements were known for their accessibility and his ability to blend traditional hymns with contemporary styles. He was a pioneer in using choral arrangements to enhance congregational singing and was also known for his work in creating children's musicals.
In addition to his musical contributions, Peterson was a devout Christian who believed that music could bring people closer to God. He passed away in 2006 at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of beloved hymns and arrangements that continue to inspire and uplift people today.
