Palm Sunday – The day Jesus made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem. On this first day of the Holy Week of Passover, He was greeted with a royal carpet of palm branches and cheers of adoration. “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord,” they shouted, hailing Him as the promised Messiah. God has given us many gifts, and although He calls us to serve others and lay our lives down to partner with Him in seeing the reality of Heaven established here on Earth, we are also supposed to enjoy the journey! Our jobs, our families, our health, our church community: these are just some of the gifts God has given us. Whilst worshipping Him with them, we can enjoy, have fun and find happiness from them too! Doing so is an expression of faith that He is who He says He is, our loving Father.

God was close to us, because God wanted to be close. Even after we got into trouble with sin and separated ourselves from His presence, he pursued us. He never let us out of His sight. God rescued humanity over and over again. God is still claiming his people today, and doing it by moving in with us, being close.
