Mr. Blair Martin, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands and Music Education, earned his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Southwest Missouri State University and his Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is currently finishing his dissertation for a Doctorate of Music Education at Indiana University which includes minors in Wind Conducting, Church Music and Elementary Music.

Prof. Martin has taught K-12 music at private and public institutions in Indiana, Tennessee and The Bahamas. At the collegiate level, he has taught in Tennessee, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. He has frequently been a guest musician/music director at numerous churches and has also been a guest speaker/teacher.

Before moving to Sterling, Kansas, Prof. Martin was the director of the Zeeland Community Band and the founder of the Hopeful Brass Quintet. He is an active member of the Music Educators National Conference and the faculty advisor for the Sterling College chapter of KMEA. In addition to tuba performance and studio teaching, he is a speaker at music education conferences, an adjudicator for music contests, and a published researcher.

Prof. Martin’s wife, Mary, in addition to being mom to their teenage son, is a free-lance writer, singer, and artist currently finishing a biblical counseling degree. The Martins also own and operate a web-based drama ministry, IHG Productions.
