PraiseCharts Mail Bag - Top 10 Song Favorites

Featuring PraiseCharts Posted on April 13, 2008

Fresh from the PraiseCharts Mail Bag: This is the first article of many featuring email requests from our PraiseCharts Members and Guests. We are excited to hear what you have to say and desire to know what God is doing in your local church ministries! Think of these entries as a global survey of the latest news, ideas and tips from around the world by fellow worship leaders to help you keep a pulse on the 'hap' in worship ministry. Now, let's have a look inside and read from the Mail Bag...

Today we have an email from one of our Gold Members: Jeff Pack from New Hope Baptist Church in Nashville, TN. Jeff requested that we share with you his top 10 favorite songs found on PraiseCharts in collaboration with some of his network of worship leader friends. This top ten list is to give you an idea of what other worship leaders are doing across the country that may inspire your creativity for worship planning.

Jeff writes:

I’m a long time PraiseCharts fan and gold member.  One of the items your PraiseCharts Buzz could capture that most every worship leader I’ve spoken with is after is various worship leaders top 10 and new adds list.   For instance my top 10/adds looks like this:

1. "All over the world", by Matt Redman – fast and bouncy to sing, but we finally made this one work, especially with horns

2. "We will Worship" by Dennis Jernigan – brought back from the vault with great response

3. "You Reign" by Jonathan Stockstill – easy congregation song

4. "Everlasting God" by Brenton Brown – passed on this until I heard Lincoln Brewster version

5. "Fields of Grace" by Big Daddy Weave – more fun for the horn section

6. "Amazing Grace/My Chains are Gone" by Chris Tomlin – great for blended congregations

7. "Jesus, I Surrender" by Jeff Deyo – this one just works, driving guitars and all.

8. "How Great is our God" by Chris Tomlin – it’s almost a standard now

9.   NEW ADD: "Mighty to Save" by Hillsong – added at Easter with good response.

10. NEW ADD: "Revelation Song" by Jennie Riddle – worked in youth, works in big church

Honorable mention:  Weirdest song I heard played at Easter...."My Hero", by the Foo Fighters, New Spring Church, Anderson, SC.   I might try this but the back row of critiques who are the guardians of my soul may finally run me off.

Anyway, worship leaders are always interested in what others are doing, especially since the CCLI top 25 changes so slowly.  It will be great to hear what’s happening across the country/world and would keep people coming back regularly.

Thanks for listening, keep posting...

Jeff Pack, New Hope Baptist Church, Nashville, TN
